Geekin' It

Today's card is another one made with someone special in mind, although to be honest it's probably more my style than hers, and I'm not entirely sure she likes pink as much as I do.  Whoops!   The theme is a bit book-worm-ish, although it's meant to relate to the recipient's job (she's an accountant) rather than paperbacks.

I was trying really hard to get the colouring right, and was doing ok until I got to her boots, where I seem to have changed the light source from overhead to then coming from both the left and right at the same time.  Shhh, don't tell anyone, and I'm sure they won't notice!

I'm really loving these papers at the moment too.  They're Magnolia papers and so pretty.

Also don't forget there's still a massive SALE at the Stamp Basket, including the image and papers used in my card.  Lots of new discounts have been applied yesterday, so pop over there to stock up while the prices are slashed.  It'll keep your craft stash topped up so you can keep busy in the dark and dingy months!  :0)

Bluebell with Saddle

I'm in love with these cute little deer images from Wild Rose Studio. There's a whole set to choose from and they're all adorable.  This one is Bluebell with Saddle.

I've kept the colour scheme quite simple with neutral browns and creams, with a spot of red and green on the image.  The base card is covered with an embossed page from my favourite Christmas paper pad, Silent Night, and each layer is matted onto shimmer tan backing paper.

My rich chocolate bow is held on with one of my favourite Hobby House 8mm pearl brads.

Retirement Card

I've got a bit of a different card today, as it has a sentiment rather than an image as the focal point.

When I received these gorgeous papers, I couldn't bear to cover them up, so I decided to make a C&S design which showcased the papers more than anything else.

The card was requested by my hubby for his boss who is retiring in a few months, and the only requirement was to include some Swarovoski crystals, and preferably not feature a bear image (hmmm, I can't think why he'd feel the need to say that!!)

Anyway, here's what I came up with;  a shaped card base, with floral papers.   I cut out a central square in the papers, matted the panel onto contrasting paper from the same pad, and edged it with Stardust gel pen before wrapping it with strands of red twine and sticking it back down in place so that the flowers still match the base card positions.

I then typed a sentiment in an elegant font, die cut it out and stamped flowers and leaves around the edge.  I layered that onto the same plain backing paper and used 3d foam pads to place it over the twine.  I then tied a bow in some more twine, threaded on a bead and a crystal onto each strand, and tied a knot at the end to stop them falling off.

Starry Night

I've got a cute Bella the Heffalump Christmas card to share today.  This one's called Starry Night, and I've cut out the image and raised it up on foam pads.

The sentiment is typed in red and overwritten with red stardust gel pen.  Other than the sprinkling of flowersoft 'snow' and some white pearls in each corner, I've opted for 'embellishment-free'.  Ooooh I feel naked!

Tilly With Rose

It's Annette with you today sharing a card which features a cute Wild Rose Studio image of Tilly with Rose.  I've also used the gorgeous rich burgundy satin ribbon again because when I used it last week I realised how much I love it and it seems to match really well with the pretty papers.

I've used the gorgeous Pine Needles die again and of course my favourite Lavish Branch.  I think the green really compliments the rich burgundy ribbon.

Hope you like it.
