Bella with Sledge and Clouds Background Tutorial

Hi everyone, it's Annette here today to share a card using a sweet Wild Rose image from The Stamp Basket.   I've not used these Bella stamps before they're just adorable.

The image is quite large so I've not adorned this card with my usual die cuts and embellishments, just few flowers and a gorgeous aqua satin ribbon bow.

Aqua is my favourite Christmas colour this year.  I absolutely adore these Nitwits Joyful Hearts papers but it feels a real shame to cover them up !

The clouds in the background are done with my chalks using a cloud template that I've created myself (see below) and a similar technique to the fab background tutorial posted by my fellow Stamp Basket designer Penni last week (see Penni's tutorial here) where she shows you how to mask your image first too (which is the bit that I shortcut, cos I'm lazy!)

I've included my template below in case you want to download it.  Please do leave me a comment too to let me know how you get on using it too.

Click on the template to see it in its original size, save it down to your computer and then print it out on card or acetate.  Cut out the cloud shape and then use it as a mask.

I use shimmer chalks to colour my clouds (yup, you can see the one I use the most for my clouds!) but you can use inks too.

Before I start applying my chalks, I outline my image with B000, a really pale blue which makes the image pop off the page a bit:

I then lay my cloud template over my image, starting at the top, and just cover the top of the image with my template:

I apply my first row of clouds across the full width of the image panel. I use the little pompoms and work in a circular motion to apply the shimmer chalk:

I apply about 3 to 4 rows working down each side of the image right down to the 'ground'.  To create a random effect with my clouds, I offset the template as I apply each row.

All items are from The Stamp Basket as follows:

Joy, Peace and Love

Hi all,
I have a criss cross card to show you today using an image from one of the new Wild Rose Studio Christmas Collection called ‘Annabelle and Tree’.

If you’ve never made a Criss cross card, they are really so easy to make and there are lots of tutorials on the web to show you how to go about it.

I’ve used two of the square straight edged Craftwork Cards stuck together with opposing sides cut to make the triangle effect. The papers that I used are a combination of Nitwits ‘Joyful Hearts Holly’ (for the front) and Papermania ‘At Christmas Time’ (for the inside), both of which were matted onto Bazzill Cardinal – you only need a small square of each.

Here’s a close up of the image which has been blinged with glamour dust and stickles!

I've used two sentiments on the card - on the front I've used one from the new Whimsy Holiday Notables 2 cut with the Whimsy Notables 2 die – these sentiments are just right for small spaces and the set (comprising 17 stamps in all) have a range of lovely words, suitable for all Christmas cards. The die is the gorgeous Memory Box Whimsical Flourish – I think this has been one of my favourite of all the Memory Box Christmas dies this year!
I've also used the sentiment from the Wild Rose Studio 'Christmas Tree' stamp set in the inside panel. The tabs have been made using the Memory Box Bistro Label...such a versatile little die!

                                      Card Recipe:

Don’t forget our weekend offer on Nellie Snellen and Marianne Design stamps, dies and papers...some great bargains!

I hope you have a lovely weekend, whatever your plans!

Big hugs,

Janet xx

Hanging Gifts

Hi all,
I have a contemporary card to show you today using an image from the latest Wild Rose Studio Christmas Collection called ‘Hanging Gifts’....such a special time and always full of fond memories…

I decided on a contemporary card this time and thought the gorgeous, subtle shades of colour in the Magnolia Sweet Crazy Love Collection papers were just right!

The snowflakes have been made using two of the four dies that come in the Spellbinders Snowflake Pendant set which have been glitzed with stickles! The smallest flake has been layered on the Memory Box Corner Bow…this die produces such lovely delicate die-cuts, nicely filling two corners of this project, and just perfect for enhancing so many Christmas or other special occasion projects!

Card Recipe:

Stamps: Wild Rose Studio ‘Hanging Gifts’ (on special offer with 10% off until 9-00a.m. Wednesday)

Don't forget there is a special offer on over at The Stamp Basket on all Wild Rose Studio products including papers, printed panels and stamps...up to 25% off until 9-00a.m. GMT Wednesday morning!!

...AND some more exciting news before I go...the new release of Saturated Canary stamps will be on pre-order at The Stamp Basket tomorrow...and they are fab-u-lous!
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Big hugs,

Janet xx

Nativity Play

Hi everyone, it's Annette with you today sharing a card using a Wild Rose Studio image from The Stamp Basket called Nativity Play.

I've used a Whimsy Holiday Notables sentiment stamp and matching shaped Notables 1 Die. These are just amazing as they look fabulous in their fancy shapes.  I also am using the Memory Box Poppy Stamps Die Antique Lamp Post for the first time which I think is perfect for a traditional type of card.  I've given it a bit of highlight with a white gel pen.

The gorgeous Red Satin Ribbon really shows up the pretty pearl brad which holds it on the card base.  I push the brad through the backing papers before sticking them down so that the ribbon stays on nice and strongly.

Hope you like my card.

All items are from The Stamp Basket as follows:

Pop over to The Stamp Basket to see the lovely array of products on offer, and don't forget there's a sale on the beautiful Wild Rose Studio images at the moment too.  Pop over quickly and grab yourself a bargain before the promotion ends.

Bildmalarna Scarf

Hi all,

I have a little treat for you today...a beautiful card from June...although sadly, it is her last card as guest designer for The Stamp Basket...how time flies!

June has used a stamp from Bildmalarna called 'Scarf'.

How cute is this stamp? I just love Mimosa's sweet expression...aah...the innocence of childhood!

June has very cleverly combined a mix of papers...GDC Studios 'Joyful Peace', Papermania 'At Christmas Time' and a piece of Bazzill Kraft Card embossed using one of our Spellbinder embossing folders which she has then inked around the edges to give a distressed look.

As June said on her lovely blog "I would like to thank Janet for being so lovely. I've really enjoyed myself using the lovely DT pack"...ah, June that's so sweet of you...we have really enjoyed having you on the team and will miss your beautiful cards so much! We hope you'll feel much better soon.

The ingredients for June's card are...........

Small red button from the Christmas Button mix

Before I go, just a gentle reminder about the special offers on Wild Rose Studio stamps, papers and printed panels over at our online store. Offer ends at 9-00a.m. GMT on Wednesday 21st November 2012.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Hugs,
Janet xx

Follow us on Pinterest!

Hi all,
I’m just stopping by to let you know that we've put piccies of all our finished design team project samples on Pinterest. For those of you who may not be familiar with Pinterest, it is an online content sharing service that allows members to organise and share images, videos and other objects that they love. We hope that our Pinterest pages will make it easier for you to access photos of finished sample cards and other projects made by our design team.

Our Pinterest boards have been organised to make it much easier for you to find ideas and inspiration for a particular stamp that you may have purchased or are thinking about purchasing. We appreciate that sometimes it’s not always easy to know what to do with a stamp when you purchase it and all of us have, at some time, purchased a stamp that has then sat in a draw for months (or even years!) because we just haven’t known what to do with it! We hope that the links that we have created from individual stamps in our online store to the finished sample projects on our Pinterest boards will help you to access ideas and inspiration much more quickily and easily!

You can also access our Pinterest pages by clicking on the Pinterest button on our blog sidebar. At the moment, we have over a hundred pinboards for the stamps that we sell in our online shop and the boards have been organised alphabetically e.g. Bildmalarna – Christmas Letters or Wild Rose Studio – Bella with wand.
We will be adding to the finished sample projects on a continual basis over the coming months, so do check back regularly for new ideas...and if you become a Pinterest follower, you will be able to repin the projects that you love onto your own Pinterest board.

So do pop over and take a look...we're looking forward to seeing you over there...and please do stop by and let us know if you find it useful!

Hugs,

Janet xx

Christmas Teddies

It's Annette here with today's card using a sweet image from Wild Rose Studio called Christmas Teddies.  These little bears are adorable and I've coloured them white, like polar bears in the snow, but they could be brown teddy bears too.

I'm also loving these Memory box scroll dies too, this one is just gorgeous in red, as is the huge poinsettia which I've dotted with a bit of liquid pearls and given a bit of accent with my copics just marking the seams of the leaves and petals.

All items are from The Stamp Basket as follows:
